About Dr. Molden

Personal Statement - Stephanie Molden, MD

During my medical training, I chose obstetrics and gynecology due to its variety of surgical, medical, and obstetrical experiences. I have always found the medical complexities of female medicine intriguing, and as a woman have felt the need for a greater focus to be placed on women’s healthcare and wellbeing. Over the past several years of training, I have noticed a common yet undertreated problem afflicting an overwhelming number of our female population - pelvic organ support defects and incontinence. I am constantly surprised at the number of women who suffer from these disorders yet who do not believe there is a treatment or that it is the plight of women to deal with such life disrupting symptoms. This is what has brought me to specifically train in pelvic medicine. Along with my love and respect for surgery, I hope to offer such women a renewed enjoyment of life. I feel that the field of urogynecology will only grow and hope that more and more women become aware of the options that are available to them so that they no longer have to keep silent or “just deal with it”. It is so gratifying to see a patient several weeks after surgery who is now able to spend the whole day with her family without mapping out the next rest stop. It makes my day to have a patient say that she no longer needs to wear bulky pads and can exercise again without leaking urine with a big smile on her face.

What is even more exciting is how minimally invasive so many of these procedures have become and where the field of urogynecology is headed in the future. I am excited to be a part of the Institute for Female Pelvic where we are on the leading edge of surgical techniques and options for patients. I truly believe we are revolutionizing the treatment of urogynecologic disorders and I value my contributions.

Like most physicians, I value time with my family and friends when not at work. I also enjoy travel, skiing, and anything pertaining to water. Biking and learning to play golf have been my newest endeavors.
