Physicians Present at International ConferenceVincent Lucente, MD (r), shares the podium at The International Continence Society and International Urogynecology Association 2004 Scientific Programme in Paris, France, August 2004, with Jean de Leval, MD, professor of urology at the University of Liege's Medical Center in Belgium. Dr. Lucente trained with Dr. de Leval, the inventor of the TVT-O, transvaginal tape obturator surgery for stress urinary incontinence. The Institute for Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery became the first center in the United States to perform the surgery.
Dr. Lucente presented both Dr. de Leval’s and his own results of the success with TVT obturator surgery. Dr. Lucente has performed over 130 TVT-O surgeries since January 2004 and over 1000 TVT, transvaginal tape retropubic surgeries since 1998, when he was also the first surgeon in the United States performing this surgery.
American Urogynecology Society National Meeting
Dr Lucente will be presenting a paper and poster at the upcoming national clinical American Urogynecology Society (AUGS) Meeting in San Diego , CA in July.The American Urogynecologic Society, founded in 1979, is dedicated to research and education in urogynecology and to improved care for women with lower urinary tract disorders.

International Continence Society and International Urogynecology Association 2004 Scientific Programme
Both Drs. Lucente and Murphy will be attending the International Continence Society and International Urogynecology Association 2004 Scientific Programme in Paris, France in August 2004.
The International Urogynecological Association is an international organization committed to promoting and exchanging knowledge regarding the care of women with urinary and pelvic floor dysfunction.
From its early beginnings, IUGA, now in its 24th year, has grown to over 400 members from 40 countries. Twenty-four annual scientific meetings have been held in nearly every corner of the world to promote the exchange of urogynecological information to thousands of physicians and healthcare providers.
Dr Lucente will present a video, Techniques to Administer Local Anesthesia and IV Sedation for the TVT-Obturator Pubovaginal Sling Procedure, and a poster, Anatomic Considerations For the TVT-Obturator Approach for the Correction of Female Stress Urinary Incontinence. The following will be published in Abstracts:Transobturator TVT (TVT-O) "Inside-to-Out" Suburethral Sling for the treatment of Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI): Early U.S. Experience.
Dr. Murphy will present, Is the Cough-Stress Test Necessary when Placing the Tension-Free Vaginal Tape and The Construct Validity of the Incontinence Severity Index.
